ANNOUNCEMENTS & REMINDERS LISTENING POST VOLUNTEERS are needed at South Middle School. If you are interested, please contact the Church Office. BUILD YOUR OWN SUNDAY A planning meeting for all middle & high school youth and their parents Sun, Aug 24th 5-7 p.m. at the Villas at Great Plains Park - club house at Jewell & Dunkirk. Call Pastor Steve for more information or for directions&ldots;.303-481-8916. OUTDOOR WORSHIP will be held Labor Day weekend on Sunday, August 31st at 9:30 in the East Courtyard. Bring a lawn chair or blanket if you choose. AUGUST MISSION is Morning Star Adult Day Program. This program helps families keep adult loved ones at home and in the community potentially preventing or postponing placement in a nursing facility. Located in historic Lowry Building 880, this program offers services for adults ages 55 or older who need supervision or assistance during the day. Clients with both cognitive and physical challenges are accepted. Activities that participants enjoy include recreation and exercise, outings, adaptive computers, art classes, and social interaction. Please list "Morning Star" in the memo section of your check. Thank you! FRIENDSHIP BAGS A number of items are being collected to fill Friendship Bags to be given to Gateway Shelter for Battered Women, Church World Service for disaster relief, and to our neighborhood schools. DINNERS FOR SIX will start in September with a pot luck gathering. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board by the fellowship hall. This is a great way to meet people in the church. Come join the fun! SEPTEMBER MISSION is "Neighbors in Need." Please plan to participate in the Mission Ministry Team's "Out-of-Body Experience". This is an opportunity to 'walk our talk!' Parkview's Mission Ministry Team seeks volunteers willing to take the 'Body of Christ' into the neighborhood on Sept 7th in service. We will gather 9 - 9:30 for coffee, juice & donuts, have a short commissioning service and be sent out into the neighborhood to do mission projects. At noon we will gather back at the church for an all-church potluck. Tea Dance - Sept 7 - Old time dancin' and romancin' Learn more WOMEN ALIVE will meet Sept 11th All women are invited to bring a salad to share. For more information contact the church office. RALLY DAY PLANS have been made by the Christian Education Ministry Team. We will have one worship service on Sept 14th at 9:30. A carnival will be held in the parking lot beginning at 10:30. Please park your cars at South Middle School, leaving the curbside for those who need to park close to the church. THOUGHT PROVOKER for September will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sept 14th. Jeremy Shaver, from The Interfaith Alliance will present, "One State, Many Faiths: Religion and the 2008 Election" The presentation will include information on the history and mission of the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado, the role of faith communities in an election season, and a short briefing on three ballot measures the Alliance is working on this year. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation. SAVE THE DATE: September 20th High Tea to be served in the Community Room in support of the International Heifer Project. Sign up sheet now available in the hall. SECOND QUARTER REPORTS from the Guidance Ministry Team are available on the table in the hallway. SENIOR HUB is a service in Aurora that supports caregivers of adults 60+ years. If you need a break call their office at 720-859-2248. Check out the Items at the Corner Stop. Lynda Emerson will be happy to take requests. PARKVIEW CAFÉ offers a variety of breakfast selections during Community Time 10:30-11:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. For more information contact Cindy Kennedy. THE MEN'S BREAKFAST AT A DECENT HOUR GROUP meets at 9:00 a.m. on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at Sam's #3. KING SOOPERS offers gift cards that are available during the Parkview Cafe fellowship time each Sunday. King Soopers gift cards can now be used for groceries or gas. "GREEN" GROCERY BAGS are available following worship. Donations of $3.00/bag are requested to help defray the costs. Thanks to our Social Justice Ministry Team for making them available! WANTED: GREETERS for both the traditional and contemporary worship services. Sign up sheets for both services are on clip boards next to the bulletin boards near Fellowship Hall.
